With only 4 pots, a bit of soil and some fertilizer and water, I enjoy an orchard with lettuces, Swiss chard, onions, carrots and tomatoes lush and healthy all year round. First think well where you are going to place pots. If you have a small balcony or sunny terrace you already have it. But choose a place where enough light arrives, and if it can be, near kitchen (when you have fruits, it will be rewarding to take them from plant and put them on plate directly).
In a container vegetable garden or growing table, soil is created with a base of 5 cm of drainage material (such as arlite) on which an additional 15 cm of soil (sold in specialist stores) is disposed. On a piece of land, parades are delimited and loosened by hand or machine up to 15-20 cm deep and then raked to level and without thick stones. Once crop area is reached, it is enough to cover it with 5 cm of compost or worm humus. But, and here lies secret, without mixing it with earth. Earthworms and plant roots are responsible for removing, fertilizing and building galleries for air and water to circulate. In order not to alter environment that favors life, it is not necessary to tread or work earth anymore.

Philosophy is very simple basically, it is a question of protecting earth so that it takes care of crops and gives us delicious foods to palate but lush to eyes (instead of healthy but with look of listening and those who do not want to prick tooth ).
